Sunday’s Well LTC
Our most challenging contract since our inception in 1995 was to restore and salvage the flood damaged carpets at renowned Sunday’s Well Tennis & Boating Club, Cork.

It was unprecedented the damage the now infamous flooding caused to the artificial grass tennis courts at the picturesque sports club situated at The Mardyke,Cork.

The adjacent Lee River surged into the courts in Nov 2009 and the force was so powerful that it managed to get under the carpets depositing debris. marine life & silt both underneath and on top of the artificial grass courts. The carpet, weighing approx 20 tonne, actually floated with the force of water and when it settled back down it left these huge creases like giant Toblerones on the surface.

It was painstakingly slow and a daunting task to salvage and repair the courts. Sand had to be removed manually from the carpet pile to lighten the load to then pull the wrinkles by stretching the material. When this was achieved repairs, gluing and new sand dressing was applied. With the diligent work of our own crew and the assistance of Manager, John Walsh and his Club members we’re delighted to report that the courts are again operational.
